TWBC have destroyed existing community services provision housed in the Cranbrook Council Offices site. They now want to have a cut down version in the Library site. Click on any image below and watch the slide show and see why it is impossible for the Library site to house the following activities they want to cram in:

  • Library (Smaller version)
  • TWBC rural Gateway
  • Learning Disability
  • Adult Services Office
  • Police (Can this service work next to CAB)
  • CAB (Can this service work next to the Police)
  • Community Halls
  • Classrooms
  • Reception
  • Catering
  • Changing Facilities
  • Toilets
  • Parking

And this is what the TWBC Architects told us.....

  • The KCC Library site is still the preferred option of TWBC
  • Wilkes Field is not at all desirable for TWBC
..It is outside the development area
..and it is privately owned so a precedent would be set
  • The overall space at the new Library site is to be 1600 Sq Metres on 2 levels ………… but it now turns out to be less than 1000 Sq metres
  • BUT only 200 Square metres will be for business space
  • Access to the site and the car parking area are not in the Library site’s favour
  • The Council offices site as far as the architects are concerned is not under consideration whatsoever
  • They will be reporting back to TWBC in January 2008 and have currently stopped further work
