It is clear that the initiative of Councillor Peter North and his colleagues on the Cranbrook Parish Council, bringing us all together on March 10th and the resulting "Surge" by our Councillors on Councillor Bullock has been the catalyst for this splendid opportunity. The Group is extremely grateful to all the Councillors who exercised their power so skillfully.
Mr Cottrill has agreed to our request that our Group would see the TWBC/KCC report on their library site joint venture before our presentation so we can compete "Head-On" against each other's merits in a fair and reasonable fashion.
We repeated our standing wish to collaborate with the TWBC in creating the community and education facility identified by us, (and by the TWBC's Urban Practitioners Report in 2007), as being vital to meet the current, let alone future needs of the community of the whole area, --- not just Cranbrook alone.
We would like our Councillors and MPs to know we are re-visiting our Business Plan to bring in new data on funding sources and to include valuable knowledge we gained from visiting a similar, well-established and flourishing facility in East London whose staff will be coming to Cranbrook to advise us. We will issue information on the plans for this visit and other relevant material as we increase our proof of our proposal. We are inspired by your support. We thank you and trust it will translate, soon, into success for the community!

On February 14th at The Cranbrook Parish Council meeting, this vital group of people who represent the community voted unanimously to support the Weald Centre Project and oppose the development of the Library Site.
After hearing presentations from both TWBC and the WCG group, the Parish Council (Feb 14) has unanimously decided to support The Weald Centre Group bid and is now actively seeking ways to persuade the TWBC to consider seriously the needs and opinions of the town and surrounding area.

There are so many people within the community, in and around Cranbrook who care fervently about this issue. Many of these individuals are fighting for the future of a the continuing community provision and the incredible voluntary services. Others are only opposing it for political reasons and seem to be lacking in common sense.

If you are a business or organisation, we want to know your opinion and if you want to use the future Weald Centre facilities.

The Weald Centre Project
The Weald Centre Project is a pioneering opportunity to build bridges in the community, supply valuable local voluntary services, and introduce further education and partnership financed by businesses in such a way that the public will not foot the bill. Our project team want to use the existing Cranbrook Council Offices location for the community to develop this exciting innovative venture.
What is the Weald Centre Plan?
On the Cranbrook Council Offices site, we want to create a modern hi-tech (GREEN) building for a professionally managed partnership of Community Services, Extended Education and Business. This innovative venture is designed to be self-financing using income generated from business units, function rooms and several unique communication ventures.
Revenue generated will help fund community services, plus vital new extended education programmes for all age groups.
The components of the project are firmly based around the three intrinsic building blocks.
1. Community Services
The heart of the Weald Centre is local community. We propose that Key voluntary groups have a permanent home in this building. These will include the CAB and other community bodies that give advice and support to the public. We have identified 40 voluntary bodies who may want to be housed in this venture. We also hope that KCC and/or TWBC will also house their Gateway core services within this building.
2. Extended Education
The age group from 15 to 19 are targeted for further teaching and vocational opportunities. This centre will encourage and house education opportunities for this age group with adult education classes that are so absent in the Cranbrook and surrounding community. There really is a significant demand.
3. Business & Communication
It's simple really! Within the Weald Centre there will be businesses who will be pay the market rate for occupancy. These will comprise quality entities that will contribute to the local economy and will also supply vocational training. In addition there will be a large community hall that will generate function income, a website and local business directory for advertising revenue together.
